Dunne clearly thinks deeply about his place in the Irish dance tradition and what his role is to be. It is a brave stance - the "heritage" version, which is both recent and seemingly unstoppable is powerful indeed, unquestioning about what it is doing. Dunne shows that Irish dance can question itself and ask where it is to go; on the evidence of Out of Time, he may well be part of the answer.
